Discoveries in Alternative Medicine

Discoveries in Alternative Medicine airs on public television and is currently underwritten by the National Healthcare Media Organization. The show has aired over forty times to an extremely enthusiastic audience and was designed to meet the ever growing demand for education about alternative medicine.

In our fast-paced society, people are constantly looking for a ‘quick fix’ or a magic bullet to correct their healthcare problems and are realizing that those do not work long term. That is why holistic medicine is becoming increasingly popular – it heals the body from the inside out. Discoveries in Alternative Medicine focuses on topics such as natural diets, how to handle stress the natural way, natural dentistry, healing the body organically, vitamin do's and don’ts, and the global approach to holistic healthcare.

National Children's Safety Quiz

National Children’s Safety Quiz is an innovative new television quiz show that educates parents, grandparents, and child caregivers how to help keep kids safe and out of the emergency room. The show features seven quiz segments, making it fun and educational to learn about child safety. Each segment poses questions to the viewers and subsequently provides the answers, along with an explanation from a local physician. Some topics may include how to handle accidental poisoning, pool safety, traffic safety, the importance of seatbelts, and what to do if your child is choking.

The show has received an extremely positive response and willingness to help due to the important subject matter and the fun, family friendly format of the program. Distribution includes the top fifty television markets, schools, parent groups, family organizations, and internet video streaming outlets. A radio program highlighting the same topics highlighted in National Children’s Safety Quiz will be produced concurrently.

Health Seminars

With this program, we will move to a different type of media; NHMO will utilize the Internet.

The goal is to bring those health-related seminars that hospitals conduct to educate the public on health issues, such as heart attack prevention, pain management, rehab, depression and living with diabetes, to an online forum for easy viewing.

These free seminars and workshops will be conducted
on-site at the hospital, usually in their educational center and presented by a physician, nutritionist or physician assistants, and will run approximately two hours, with an occasional one-hour follow up workshop.

Our program will videotape the entire presentation
on-site, then edit and distribute the seminar on the Interent to anyone in need who wants to view it. The program has been designed to greatly enhance the number of people exposed to this information, as there are scores of individuals who are unable to travel to/from the hospital, for a variety of reasons, who will benefit from such programming.

The project will be managed by an NHMO on-line producer who will make arrangements with the hospital to video tape each seminar. Our producer will then contract with 2(two) cameramen, a sound tech and other crew members as needed, to record the event. The producer will complete any necessary post production and then reduce the entire presentation to a 'download master' sufficient for Internet viewing.

The master will be posted to both the hospital and NHMO websites. A news release will be distributed by the hospital, NHMO and the physician(s) conducting the seminar, announcing the release and distribution of the video.

The Coping Show

The Coping Show highlights psychological health – an extremely important and under-discussed topic that affects the lives of millions all over the world.

The show has five informative segments that provide a comprehensive view of psychological issues that people encounter on a regular basis. Some topics include anxiety, depression, grief, stress, eating disorders, divorce, and addiction – conditions that effect the overall wellness of individuals – no matter their demographic or country of origin. Some of the guests featured on the show include esteemed experts, such as psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, family therapists, and addiction specialists, as well as real patients who share their experiences and testimonials.

The Coping Show (brought to audiences in part by the National Healthcare Media Organization) has aired in twenty public television markets to an extraordinarily positive response and continues to grow a strong, enthusiastic audience base.

Medical Minutes

This program is focused on educating the public on healthcare and access to healthcare. Education will be accomplished through a series of Public Service Announcements :60 second television spots that will be broadcast on local network affiliates.

Each :60 second spot would be developed for individuals or socioeconomic groups who are uninsured/underserved and lost within the healthcare system. Each scenario within the spot will state a problem that prevents that target audience from receiving basic healthcare. The message then in turn explains the answer, hint or alternative method they can do to receive the benefits so they can access health care providers. This message would be delivered in simple terms with real next step solutions that will ultimately provide them with the assistance they need.

The first step in the development of this spot will be to assign an NHMO producer who has production experience and knowledge of the healthcare system in the area of the underserved.

The producer will then need to locate providers, such as government agencies, hospital foundations, self help groups, insurance companies and legal services focused on the underserved, and approach them for assistance and program cooperation, with respect to identifying problem areas.

Once a number of the problem areas have been identified, script writers will develop a series of scripts and video production will commence. Voice over talent or donated celebrity talent will be recruited, the spots will be prepared for legal clearance and once approved - we will then move them to post production and distribution.

Closed Captioning

NHMO would provide health related non-profits with the new mandated Closed Captioning Federal Requirement for all Broadcast Video Programming on TV and the Internet. NHMO would translate the on-air English dialog to a computerized script then download it into a working Post Production file.

Secondly, the target program would be loaded onto a video program such as Final Cut Pro to create a Computer Timeline. The graphic dialog file would then be converted to the timeline and manually set in a frame by frame screen display. After being set to match the dialog, the graphics (lettering) would be put under the screen as a readable display. The "Master" is replayed for accuracy and transferred to a "Master" for Broadcast.
